June 26 – 28, 2020 * Northwest Regional Meet * Penticton, BC - Tom and Pat Siddon have once again graciously volunteered to host this year’s event, in Penticton, BC. Our event will be in conjunction with Penticton’s 20th annual function called, the “Peach City Beach Cruise”. It is a well-known collector car show and is the largest in Western Canada that is limited to and attracting 850 collector vehicles (vintage, hot rods, customs and classics). Our beautiful CVA Fords, Mercs, Meteors, Monarchs and Trucks, will be given an Okanagan Lake front display area on the grass in Rotary Park. At our last visit to the Beach Cruise in 2017 we had more than 50 of our unique and colorful 50’s vehicles on display at the same lakeside location. Our presence was widely commended by many who attended the Penticton show in 2017.

The Peach City Beach Cruise organizing committee has enthusiastically embraced our participation in 2020 and are sponsoring a special CVA Members trophy. Some of you may recall that in 2017, we won an award for the largest club participation. Let’s to do that again in 2020!

Our CVA members, will start gathering in Penticton Thurs June 25th for the start of our CVA meet.

Friday morning, we will take off to Kenny Helms place. He has given his blessing to visit his home and incredible property once again. This will include an awesome short cruse, meandering on a nice county road to his place. His hospitality to his wonderful world of peaceful seclusion on top of a mountain with beautiful views and all his collection of yesterday, is a sight to see!

After leaving Kenny’s place, we will take a short drive and take in a lunch at St. Andrews by the Lake. Then we’re off to our second excursion a few miles away.

We’ve planned a tour of the world-renowned Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory, (DRAO). It is a research facility, located in Kaleden, British Columbia. The site houses four radio telescopes, interferometric radio telescope, 26-m single-dish antenna,
solar flux monitor, and the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME). This promises to be very informative and for many, extremely unique!

After the observatory we will drive back to Penticton.

At 5pm, the PCBC has a parade of all auto’s, which will be incredible! This is a huge lake-to-lake Beach Cruise with hundreds of cars cruising down Main Street to the beachfront of Okanagan Lake.

We have booked the Blue Heron Banquet Room at the Penticton Golf and Country Club (www.pentictongolf.ca) for our traditional closing dinner and awards ceremony on Saturday, June 27th. The dining room looks out over the beautiful views of the golf course. Our all- inclusive price for the banquet will be just under $40 CAD or about $30.00 US per person.

To participate as CVA Members in the 2020 Peach City Beach Cruise, our members need to register on the Peach City Beach Cruise website, (www.peachcitybeachcruise.com) and designate their CVA affiliation in order to park with our group. The Beach Cruise website is open for registration. Total show registration will be limited to 850 vehicles. It is highly advised for CVA members to register as soon as possible. As of this writing, they have over 585 entered. The show historically has been sold out! If you need assistance with registering call me.

Also, please remember to sign up for the CVA function. The NW CVA region members will receive an email, and for some a mailing. It will include our CVA Registration form, needing filled out, and send to Tom Bridgham, along with funds.

Please understand there are two separate registrations, one for the PCBC and one for the CVA functions.

You should also place a hold on your hotel accommodation as soon as possible. There is a listing of several Penticton hotels available on the Beach Cruise website under their Home Page Icon for Information/accommodation. Many of the lakefront motels are already booked. However, our CVA organizing committee in Penticton has arranged for a limited number of rooms to be held at the Penticton Lakeside Resort, the Ramada Hotel and the Sandman Inn. Prices at these hotels range from $140 to $240 Cdn or approximately $100 to $180 US per night.

There may be a modest (at cost) charge for these additional CVA activities. At present we are considering a Thursday evening supper run and cruise, a Friday morning tours with several stops of interest, followed by an informal lunch.
